Power Laser Inc. recently completed a high-precision restoration project for the manufacturing sector, focusing on reclaiming critical components that had been compromised by long-term environmental exposure.
The Challenge
Eight massive crane boom skins had been stored outdoors for an extended period, resulting in heavy oxidation (rust) and a stubborn layer of mill scale. To meet the strict standards required for manufacturing and high-integrity welding, these surfaces needed to be stripped back to bare, contaminant-free metal without damaging the integrity of the substrate.
Scope of Work
Quantity: 8 individual boom skins.
Dimensions: Each plate measured 29 feet in length, with widths ranging from 17 to 24 inches.
Surface Area: Total restoration of both sides of every plate.
Objective: Complete removal of rust and mill scale to prep for immediate welding and assembly.
